FAQ
WHAT EXACTLY IS EUH?
We are a chapter of the first ever student-led policy incubator, started in Yale University. We aim at strengthening Transatlantic Relations in the European Context.
WHAT DOES EUH DO?
We brainstorm, develop and apply European policy options, organize and array of events and publish our papers in journals such as the RETA and the EPR.
HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT REQUIRE TO JOIN A COMMITTEE?
The average workload will be around 3-5 hours a week. This depends on the committee and the season. Depending on what events, deadlines you have the workload may vary.
CAN I APPLY TO MORE THAN 1 POSITION?
Yes! Please elaborate in your motivation letter on why you are interested in each position! You will also have a chance to give us your preference.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Every student at the university of Amsterdam regardless of their study level: Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate students.
WHEN DO APPLICATIONS CLOSE?
We have two application rounds each year: one in September and one in January. Deadlines vary each year but are usually around the middle of the month. In exceptional circumstances we also accept late applications (see application form for details).
HOW LONG SHOULD MY MOTIVATION LETTER BE?
As long as you want! We recommend it being around 500 words to really explain your motivation to us, but there are no specific guidelines.
WHY SHOULD I JOIN EUH? WHAT DO THE MEMBERS GO ON TO DO AFTER THEY GRADUATE?
If you are interested in European Affairs and potential future careers in the European context (think tanks, EU, companies) then EuH is for you! We have a few of our alumni now doing traineeships and internships at European institutions all around Europe. Some alumni also join our big parent organization EuH based in the US.
WHAT DOES THE APP COMMITTEE DO EXACTLY?
The APP committee is the preparation committee for our flagship event each spring: the Amsterdam Policy Prize. It is a policy contest that pits study associations around Amsterdam against each other to then determine the best policy option. We worked closely with the Gemeeinde Amsterdam and the university last year when organizing this event.
